Babbling over

I literally laughed out loud when I saw this onesie with 'Oh Crap' so aptly placed above the rear. And strolling through Covent Garden the other day with Little Big Cheeks in his 'Fuel' bodysuit, I was stopped time and again by people wondering where we got that cute t-shirt.

The answer is Babble Babywear, a line of bodyhugging onesies with witty captions and logos that are bound to make you do a double-take. Check out the 'Chunky' onesie with peanut butter jar logo or the 'Recycling Centre' for the eco-conscious parent with a sense of humour. Each bodysuit is made of 100% ringspun combed cotton with reinforced three-snap closures and available in sizes 0-12 months.

And if you think you can do even better, Babble Babywear are running a contest for new slogans. Visit the web site for more details.

Hot mama

Not every mummy feels yummy all the time. But there are some days when you stroll out with extra sass in your stride - days when not even the spit-up on your shoulder can steal your shine.

So if you've got it, why not let your bubba flaunt it in this 'I'm with the MILF' onesie? If that's a little OTT for your tastes, why not check out other t-shirts in the David & Goliath range? They specialise in fashion tees emblazoned with cheeky or cute slogans that are guaranteed to make people look twice. And with sizes to fit the whole family, even your DILF can get in on the action. Pop into David & Goliath's online store for more words to the not-so-wise.

Yellow Baby!

We at Hype Baby are proud to announce that our babe-in-waiting, Little Big Cheeks (as he shall be blogged about) is finally here. He's been with the Cheeky family for two weeks now and already we can't imagine life without him.

And we can think of no better way to greet him on this blog than with a sun salutation from one of our top shops, Nordic Kids.

This Yellow Smiling Sun bodysuit design by Mini Rodini is simply hot to trot. The sweet smiley face and funky, graphic print rays on sunshine cotton are irresistibly cheerful. It's the perfect way to inject a little summertime spirit indoors while we yearn for warmer days ahead. Check out this and more designs at the Nordic Kids web site.

It's just one of several superfly shirts and onesies for tots aged newborn to 18 months that are on special offer from our friends at PeaceLoveMom. Through January 15, all wonder babies and (wondrous babymakers) will get 10 percent off any product at the site by entering the code HYPEBABY at checkout.

Talk of the T's

Eco-friendly, innovative and intelligent, Blirt Shirts are set to be a hit with greenies, style hounds and word nerds alike. The concept of Blirt Shirt is to introduce youngsters to the fleximagical, colourtastic playground that is the English language by coupling popular turns of phrase (dating back as far as 2,200 years!) with quirky designs on a range of long and short-sleeved t-shirts made from 100% organic cotton.

You'll find phrases like 'a good egg', 'a real ham' or a 'bull in a china shop' - all carefully selected to suit every variety of little angel/monster. Blirt Shirts are unisex, available in a selection of colours and sizes, and each one arrives with a booklet wittily explaining the origin of the term of speech. The shirts are super soft, Fair Trade guaranteed and Hype Baby especially digs the brown paper bag packaging. Smart, in every sense of the word. Check out the Blirt Shirt site and watch the images come to life.

Do you remember life Before Kids?

Once upon a time Saturday all-nighters were spent in the clubs, Sunday mornings were for lazing around and the only cribs you checked out were on MTV. And then you got babied up and life as you knew it changed forever. If you're still feeling a little shell-shocked, the Before Kids range features t-shirts and accessories to help you express how parenting has knocked you for six.

Whether you're a co-sleeping parent or you’re constantly bed-jacked by your toddler, you'll laugh at the Before Kids… three in a bed was risqué' slogan. Notepads stating ‘Before Kids…I thought I was busy’ and coffee mugs admitting ‘Before Kids…I drank decaf’ should also put a smile on your face. Then there’s our personal favourite, ‘Before Kids…work ended at five’. Why? You know. You’ve been there. Visit the Before Kids website for more selections.

Sitting for SATees

Maybe you’ve spent your baby’s formative years playing Mozart to him in the womb, speaking Mandarin to her in the crib and singing the Periodic table as a nightly lullaby. Maybe you’ve just passed on brilliant genes. Either way, it’s clear you’ve got an egghead on your hands. So articulate his genius with one or more of SATees witty t-shirts for babes with brains. Design duo Debbie and Scott have got every little learner covered with slogans like Pulchritudinous (beautiful), Loquacious (talkative), Indefatigable (tireless), Itinerant (wandering) and our favourite, Extemporaneous (made without much preparation).

And if it’s been a while (ahem) since you passed your English exams, explanations in brackets are provided (in case anyone actually asks you what that word your baby’s wearing means)! SATees now come in larger kid sizes S, M and L (6-14) and through August 31 you can get $10 off any order of $50 or more with coupon code COUPONTEE.

Little and Unique

Our cheeky one's at that age where he's obsessed with anything on wheels (that age ranging from 0 to around 85 for most boys, it seems!) So I'm pretty taken with Little Uni's baby tee-shirt featuring a car logo on psychedelic orange that simply reads 'beep'. Actually I'm torn between that one and the orange scooter tee, although he seems to think it's a train and goes 'choo choo' every time I click on that image. Or should I go for the milk truck tee-shirt and personalise it with my baby's name? Ah, decisions, decisions. Little Uni is a line of quirky, modern tee-shirts and onesies with sewn appliques of classic animal shapes and objects and as you can see, you're pretty much spoilt for choice. The tees are designed for kids from 3 months to 4 years and can be ordered online at the Little Uni store.

Happy accidents

Accidents happen. And next thing you know you're elbow deep in nappies and receiving blankets. But at least you've still got that wacky sense of humour. This David & Goliath onesie stating 'I'm the result of a broken condom' is guaranteed to shock or amuse depending on its audience. Maybe you're having a joke at their expense. Maybe you're simply telling it like it is. Either way, you might have some explaining to do when baby's old enough to read it. Available in sizes 3-24 months at UK retailers Spoiled Brat. For more sassy slogans check the David and Goliath site.

Gabby Babies say 'Hands Off!'

When you’re pregnant, nobody can keep their hands off your bump. Then when you bring your shiny new darling into the world, it seems every grisly, germ-ridden, disease-infected mutant wants to get their paws on your pride and joy. If you’re tired of karate chopping strangers’ hands away from your precious one, or imprisoning baby behind his stroller rain cover even if it’s scorching outside, why not check out this Gabby Baby t-shirt instead? The message is loud and clear: Please don’t touch my hands I put them in my mouth.

  • Gabby Baby
  • was set up by a mum who was tired of fielding unsolicited comments from family, friends, even strangers e.g. Is he a good baby? Have you put her on a schedule? Are you sure you’re not overfeeding? Do you want my advice? And so on, ad nauseam. Gabby Baby babygros and t-shirts are designed to tell all those helpful hinters politely but firmly to get stuffed. Other Gabby Baby sayings include Please don’t stare at my lunch, Please don’t ask my mommy if she’s ‘working’ and Please don’t ask my daddy if he’s babysitting. UK buyers visit: LoulouBee
